The Norwood Memorial Municipal Building (Town Hall) was built in 1928 and added to the Register of Historic Places in 1996. It was dedicated in memory of those from Norwood who died in the Civil War and World War I. The building houses Memorial Hall, a large meeting space adorned with murals and statuary honoring the service of Norwood residents in both wars. The beautiful murals, recently restored, were painted by artist and architect Jean Jacques Haffner (1885-1961). A veteran of the French army who served in World War I, Haffner was professor of architecture at Harvard University from 1922 to 1936.
